You do not have to go to London to get a cheap flight. Most big holiday destinations have direct flights from UK regional airports, and the total cost (with parking and travel to the airport) is often lower.
Main UK regional airports
- North West: Manchester, Liverpool
- Midlands: Birmingham, East Midlands
- South West and Wales: Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter
- Yorkshire and North East: Leeds Bradford, Newcastle
- Scotland: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen
- Northern Ireland: Belfast International, Belfast City
London has six airports too: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and Southend.
How to find the cheapest airport for you
- Search from two or three airports you could reach, on the same dates.
- Add the cost of parking, train or taxi. A cheap flight from a far airport can end up costing more.
- Smaller airports often have shorter security queues, which is a nice bonus with children.
- Book airport parking early online. It is usually much cheaper than paying on the day.
Popular cheap routes from regional airports
From most of the airports above you can usually find flights to Spain, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and popular city break destinations. Choose your airport in the search on our home page and select "Anywhere" or a whole month to see what is cheapest.
